Anuka’s full name is Mensonides UB Anuka Bullard. She comes from Mensonides Kennels out of Kennewick, WA Their information, including a link to their kennels website is shared below. She was sired by Ursus Borealis Douwe Mensonides and her mother is Ursus Borealis Anneke Mensonides.

Anuka and her parents are all registered with health records available at AKC. She also has OFA certification on her hips and elbows, and genetic blood testing can be done upon request.

 

Anuka is an adorable goof who always adds to the energy of our home and family environment. She has a unique and fun personality and gets along with everyone of all ages. 

​

She needs a walk or time in the pasture with cattle and horses most days to get her energy out, but she can and does have her occasional down days where she can be found on the couch or lazing by the fire. She does get stir crazy if she’s in the house too long, but that usually means she finds her way to my lap where she will remind me it’s time to play. She is normally pretty quiet in the house, until her people are gone, then she will whine and pout. She loves and prefers to be near her humans and is very attached to them. However, she is able to spend time at home alone without getting into trouble.

 

Anuka also joins me in my office when I am conducting my mental health therapy practice. During this time, she joins the client on the couch, or she will sleep at my feet, sometimes 5-7 hours at a time. She is aware when we are at work versus when she is able to play. Her patience is astounding.

She can be very high energy around cats, although with some reminders, she can control herself and she has never shown aggression towards another dog or other animal (other than herding cattle). Herding is a top quality of hers - she is a natural with the cattle and is less aggressive than some other herding breeds. She calmly and assertively gets the job done with less stress on the livestock, and does so very naturally.

Due to her double coat, Anunka does not shed at all. She does take considerably more grooming than dogs that shed. I brush her frequently (more than once a week) and she gets her hair cut once every 5-6 weeks in the summer and 6-8 weeks in the winter, with face and feet trimmings in-between. She and I have learned together how to patiently groom when needed since we started when she was 12 weeks old.

Lastly, I am not sure if the Bouvier breed is known for fetching, but Anuka figured it out immediately and has loved it ever since. She is not much of a water dog, but she enjoys putting her feet in, but will not voluntarily go for a swim.

Darwins full name is Darwin of Cornelius. He comes from a kennel owned by Leeann Love and is currently residing in Kalispell, Montana. He was sired by CH Donlee Eye Have A Dream and his mother GCH CH Margaux's Clearly C'Loe.
